Banana is an edible fruit that is rich in Potassium, vitamin C, vitamin B6, magnesium, copper and fiber. It is considered as berries and not fruits.
Research shows that banana are in at least 107 countries and are ranked fourth among the worlds food crops in monetary value. Bananas are produced mainly in tropical and sub-tropical areas of African, Asia and the Americas, as well as the Canary Islands and Australia. The Americans also consume more bananas than apples.
Bananas are also called plantains but in general use, banana refers to an edible fruit which is often eaten uncooked while plantain refers to a starchier fruit that is often cooked before eating.

Banana is not fattening as long as you are eating bananas in limited quantities. Although, bananas contain about 105 calories and certain amount of fats and sucrose.
